How to Buy Baby Clothing for First-Time Moms

Buying baby clothing can be a tricky business, especially for first-time mums. There are so many baby dresses and outfits to choose from! I know I had a difficult time and made some blunders with my purchases along the way. Take advice from the guide below; there are plenty of tips from mums on how to buy baby clothing successfully.

1) What kind of baby clothing will I need?

Buying baby clothing can be a boggling experience, as your bump grows you will probably start to panic – ‘I don’t have any baby clothes!’ You will probably do what I did and start wandering around all the stores that sell baby clothes, baby furniture, baby gifts and so on. The choice is endless, this is where the danger lies in buying too many clothes for baby.

Too many baby clothes means your baby will only wear them once or twice (or sometimes not at all), babies grow very quickly and the next size up in that special outfit is needed before you know it! Leaving you with the cutest outfits ever, but no VALUE FOR MONEY.

The ideal way to buy baby clothing is to make sure you have enough outfits to get you through the week in a couple of different sizes, but not so many that you have overflowing drawers of baby outfits that haven’t even been unwrapped before your baby gets too big to wear them; or duplicate clothing that you didn’t really need.

Well, to be fair, duplicate baby clothing isn’t that big of an issue really, especially in the early days when baby clothes can only be worn once and usually for a couple of hours and all clothing needs to be continually washed and washed! In the early days make sure you have numerous baby dresses, bodysuits, comfortable playgro suits, and sleeping suits, basic tees, comfortable cotton pants, warm cardigans, and coats or sunhats, depending on the season.

Before you buy new baby clothes check what time of the year your baby will be born, it could be around sale time, which is the best time to buy bulk lots of newborn baby clothing that you are going to need.
Once all of the confusion has settled you will have an exciting time buying your first newborn baby clothes, it is much more fun than buying clothes for yourself (honestly) – and then in time you will be having more fun when your baby grows out of that first lot of clothes, you will find yourself a more experienced shopper in the baby clothing department.

Sizes of Baby Clothing:

Sizes of baby clothing vary from manufacturer to manufacturer so we haven’t listed a definitive sizing guide here. Newborn sizes generally start from 0000 but this is actually quite a small size and unless you have a smaller-than-average baby, you might only get a month or two from this size. The best advice is to pre-buy in size 000 and then buy extra supplies in the 0000 size if you need to after the birth. Check labels for weight and height guidelines before you buy (average birth weight is 3.5kg). baby clothing tips

What to look for when Buying Baby Clothes:

wide necks, or easy fastenings to get clothes over baby's neck easily
fastenings to enable you to remove and change a nappy without completely undressing baby
snaps / press-studs are easy, safer and quicker than buttons
no rough seams or uncomfortable material - natural, cotton, etc, is best
machine washable
check that buttons are sewn on well (baby could choke on little buttons)
no loose threads that little fingers or toes could get caught in
avoid ribbons and strings that babies can wrap around their necks

Hopefully, this comprehensive guide to your baby’s first clothes has been helpful to you! Remember, don’t rush too many clothes before your baby is born, you can always buy more of the garments you need after the arrival of your newborn.

Wedding Shoes – Top Tips To Make A Great Purchase

Men might see shoes as somewhat trivial and somehow overrated. Women on the one hand will go to the far ends of the universe just to have the perfect pair. There’s something about having the right shoes that completes the whole attire of a sophisticated or stylish lady. It seems to conclude how her personality and taste reflects the shoes she wears. This might not be true to all women, still there’s a feverish effect that tends to take over when the desired perfect pair of stilettos are not acquired.

In an ordinary setting it is hard to find just the right shoes to wear. Being that there are so many things to consider as compared to wedding shoes. It takes time to get to a decision. With colors, styles and function it is a broader choice to make.

More precise elements in the decision making are concluded in buying the perfect pair of footwear for brides to be. These are color, style, details or fabric selections and comfort. These are very vital to achieve just the right pair that will last throughout the celebration.

Let’s take one point at a time. First on the list is color. This is easy enough, especially on weddings. Bridal shoes are usually white, off white and cream. But nowadays, there are other colors that are becoming popular with brides. These are gold, silver and skin tone colored shoes. Choosing the right color to match the wedding gown is essentially the best way to keep preference in lined and at the same time eliminating indecisions.

Color is easy enough but style is another story altogether. They tend to determine the taste of the wearer. Different personalities have various selections in choosing the right wedding shoes. There are bride who would like a dainty closed toe with just the right heels to complement their height. Brides, however, who are lacking in stature, come up no less short of the highest heel there is. A more flamboyant bride will use straps high heeled stilettos that ooze sexiness. Elegant women will probably try on a closed toe and open sling back stilettos to use on her wedding day. It all boils down to preference. Taste is of course subjective in nature.

Details of the shoes are equally important as a part picking good bridal footwear. Savings are considerable issues to deal with in preparing for weddings. For those brides who find it impractical to buy a new pair that’s going to be used for a day might opt to recycle old shoes. They can ask the dressmaker for a piece of fabric used for the bridal dress and bring it to the shoe repair shop. Then the shoe repair shop can use the ample amount of fabric to cover those worn out pair giving them life. Reviving old shoes are a practical way to save. This will help you pay for other necessities of the wedding.

Nothing beats comfortable shoes to keep a bride on her toes during her wedding reception. There is a saying that goes around in the fashion industry, women must suffer for style. This remark is very true. For one thing, wearing heels are never comfortable. If they are stable enough then it can be achieved. But for the most part they are tiring to use. When shoes are new they need to be worn a couple of times before the feet get acquainted with it. Hence, it is best for brides to start trying on as soon as they purchase it. They must be able to use it for more than two hours without showing traces of pain in their faces. This might come across as a funny thing but any lady will tell you this drill is a must.

Another important thing that all brides that need to know is that shoes must be the first thing which needs to be bought. The reason behind it is that the height of the wedding dress will be measured against the heels of the shoes. Therefore, a very important part of the creation of the bridal gown is the shoes. Taking the measure of the gown without your shoes on will be remorseful. You could end-up having a short gown or yanking your dress too a great deal because of excessive fabric.

Shoes with heels are hard on the feet. If the pain is too much, then it is advisable to bring extra shoes that is kinder more comfy to relieve the strain. Lastly, buy shoes in the afternoons, the feet tends to expand as the day progresses, that’s why it is best to buy at the end of the day.

Wedding Gifts – Tips on the giving of Wedding Gifts

A wedding is the perfect time to celebrate and to give a unique and memorable gift. A wedding is without exception the best and perhaps the biggest event in a couples life. There are a few other great gift occasions like a new baby but today we will talk about the wedding gift. Here are a few tips and ideas for gift giving pre wedding and on the wedding day.

Engagement party gifts

For some an engagement party is a great way to tell the family and friends of the great event about to come to the engaged couple. This can just be a party without gifts but for the most part friends know or the engagement and bring gifts to the party. The gifts are sometimes gag gifts but sometimes a friend will bring a very meaningful gift as well. If you keep the party very informal then will not be obligated to bring gifts. The more formal the party then most likely gifts will arrive. Remember that any gift you receive at the engagement party should be reciprocated with a nice Thank you note.

Wedding Gifts

Wedding Gifts can be brought to the wedding or sent out after receiving the invitation to the wedding. You may want to check and see if the couple has registered on a gift registry first. Many couples don’t so you can talk to the family and see what the couple could use as they just start out. Many new young couples need almost everything a new home could use. I personally would stay away from the flat grill as many couples get two or three of them. The point is talk to someone in the wedding party that knows what the couple could use and buy the wedding gift based on personality and love.

Wedding Shower

Over the years the wedding showers have start to become a bride and groom affair. This is where the bridal shower gift can be very small and casual or big and elaborate. As before it depends on the invitation sent out as to how formal it is. A great Shower party is one full of friends and family and a time to reflect over the couple’s lives before the big wedding day. Many wedding showers have a theme to them. Usually the friends put together a Hawaiian night or a night related to the couple’s personality. You can even at this point extent the theme to the food and entertainment.

Rehearsal Dinner

Just before the wedding Day the couple gets together with the bridesmaids and groomsmen for a rehearsal dinner. This is a perfect time to exchange gifts from the bride and groom to the bridesmaids and groomsmen. This is a Thank You gift and great care should be taken in the choosing of this gift. The gift should be from the heart and if possible personalised in some way this makes the gift more memorable to the bridal party for years to come. Sometimes the wedding party will give a gift to the bride and groom as a just starting out gift.

Wedding Day Favours and gifts

The day of the wedding is here and as at many weddings now days the bride and groom have prepare a small gift or wedding favour for all their guests. This small gift is optional and is only for showing your appreciation of your guest and your way of saying Thank You for coming to our wedding. You can give this small gift to each couple or to each guest this is totally up to you. Some wedding couples spend allot on this favour but many keep it affordable and within the budget. You can find many traditional wedding favours but this is a great time to try a new trend and go with a gift that is relative to your personalities and your guest will find memorable.

The point in gifts for the wedding is that every gift you choose for all the different parts of the wedding should be heartfelt and chosen with love. Only in selecting your gifts this way will your wedding event be truly memorable for you and your guest.
